Zinc Sheet Relief for Earthquake victims of Kanikethok and Bistchap of Bishankhu Narayan VDC, Lalitpur

Earth quake of 7.8 magnitude on 25th April 2015 and several major aftershocks rocked Nepal with devastating destructions leaving thousands of people dead and millions in grief and distress. Over 4 lakhs houses were destroyed and people are living in temporary tents and open spaces. Rainy season is on set and these temporary shelters are not enough to protect them from rain and storm.

Nepal Adoration Society felt the need of time and planned to provide relief to earthquake victims. In the course, group of SABS sisters under the leadership of Sr. Deepa visited Kanikethok and Bistachap of Bishankhu Narayan VDC Ward No. 2 of Lalitpur district to assess the destruction and damage caused by earthquake. Majority of houses were found damaged and people were living in temporary shelters.

Nepal Adoration Society started planning to protect victimised people of Kanikethok and Bistchap from monsoon rain and on 4th June 2015 Nepal Adoration Society organized program for distributing galvanized zinc sheets at Bishakhu Narayan VDC ward no. 2 of Lalitpur district. 498 bundles of zinc sheet were distributed among 176 quake-affected families. Each family received 500 square feet of zinc sheet for shelter construction. This support brought a sign of relief among the community people. They thanked the Society for this support at the time of grief and distress. Local people were very much cooperative during the distribution of relief materials.

Nepal Adoration Society extends its heartfelt thanks to Manfreid and Martina, and Future for Nepal's Children (FUNECH) whose generous financial support provides relief to earthquake victims of Kanikethok and Bistachap. The Society extends thanks to Lalitpur district administration, Armed Police Force of Lalitpur district, Bishankhu Narayan VDC authority, Bishankhu Narayan VDC Secretary, local leaders, and community people for their valuable coordination and cooperation to make the relief program a success in peaceful environment. Last but not least a special thanks to all well wishers of Nepal Adoration Society for giving generous support to accomplish the relief work.
